During its Don Quixote show at the Oktyabrsky Grand Concert Hall on April 15 and 16, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre presented a stunning pleiad of dancers that were appearing on stage for the very first time.
As they crowded to see Don Quixote — last season's famed premiere staged by Johan Kobborg — at St. Petersburg's largest concert venue, ballet fans got a chance to appreciate a renewed cast. During the April 15 show, the Flower Girl ensemble was joined by the young ballerinas Valerie Gomez de Cadiz (Florica) and Karen Otsuka (Augustina). On April 16, the same roles were performed by Galina Grachyova and Galina Yanovskaya respectively. Two other dancers appeared in début roles on the same night: Sergey Krylov, winner of an international diploma, played the male protagonist Basilio, while Timofey Fedorenko performed the part of Gamache, the wealthy but not too bright nobleman attempting to woo the beautiful Kitri. We are delighted by our dancers' successful début and hope that they continue their excellent work!
