As part of its Grand Tour Programme, which spans all of Russia, the St.Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre, headed by Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Andrian Fadeev, is going to give two performances—on 14 and 15 May—at the Vladikavkaz National Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Mariinsky branch in the Republic of North Ossetia–Alania, recently reopened after major renovations. Audiences in Vladikavkaz will get to enjoy Giselle, a true masterpiece of Romantic ballet.
This famous production, set to a score by Adolphe Adam and choreographed by Jean Coralli, Jules Perrot, and Marius Petipa, was first revived at the Yacobson Theatre in 2012 (ballet restoration credit: Irina Kolpakova, People's Artist of the USSR; set and costumes by Vyacheslav Okunev, People's Artist of Russia). The shows will feature appearances by: Sofia Matyushenskaya and Alla Bocharova, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, as the titular character; Kirill Vychuzhanin and Andrey Sorokin as Count Albert; Andrey Gudyma as Hans; and Anna Skvortsova as Myrtha. The Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre already performed in Vladikavkaz before, during the Mariinsky–Vladikavkaz 3rd International Caucasus Festival.
