The first series of rehearsals for the upcoming premiere of Sleeping Beauty, overseen by Jean-Guillaume Bart, a renowned French ballet director, choreographer, and tutor, began on April 27 and will last until March 5.
The members of the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Company, both the soloists and the corps de ballet dancers, are currently fully engaged in the rehearsal process. They are busily working on the ballet's second and third act.
Mr. Bart is responsible for overseeing the following scenes from the ballet: the duo of Princess Aurora and Prince Désiré; Variation d'Aurore (Aurora's Variation); the dance of Aurora and the Nereids from the second act; scenes involving the Lilac Fairy and the Gold, Silver, Sapphire, and Diamond Fairies; the dance of the Lilac Fairy's entourage; polonaise from the third act; the variations of the Jewels (Diamond, Silver, Gold, and Sapphire); and the dances of the fairy-tale characters from the third act: Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf, Puss in Boots and The White Cat, and Cinderella and Prince Charming.
The second series of rehearsals supervised by the French choreographer will take place from April 25 to May 15.
