After a series of performances at St. Petersburg's most prestigious venues this August, all of which were a resounding success, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre has returned to the legendary Mariinsky to ring in a new season.
The Yacobson dancers performed one of the most beloved items on its action-packed playbill at the historical venue of the Mariinsky Theatre on October 7 and 14 The Nutcracker ballet has become deeply engrained in global musical culture as one of the most precious jewels of P.I. Tchaikovsky's heritage. Choreographed by the talented ballet master Vasili Vainonen, this Christmas fairytale, yet again, spirited the Mariinsky guests away into an enchanted world of dreams and romantic adventures. On October 7, the ballet's main roles (Princess Masha and Prince Nutcracker) were played by the Yacobson Ballet's principals, Kirill Vychuzhanin and Sofia Matyushenskaya, whose achievements earned her an International Contest Diploma. Whereas on October 14, the show on the legendary stage starred Alla Bocharova , Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation and winner of the St. Petersburg City Council Youth Award, and Andrey Sorokin, winner of multiple international contests and of the St. Petersburg City Council Youth Award.
