Seven Nominations for Don Quixote

Don Quixote, a ballet staged at the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre by Johan Kobborg, has been short-listed for the Golden Mask National Theatre Award in seven nominations.

The Golden Mask National Theatre Award nominees for the 2017–2018 season were announced in Moscow today, on October 31. The St.Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre, headed by Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation Andrian Fadeev, is represented in seven nominations.

The Award's expert judging panel has recognised several outstanding achievements connected with last season's premiere, Johan Kobborg's Don Quixote ballet. The nominations are: Ballet/Best Production; Ballet — Contemporary Dance/Best Ballet Master/Best Choreographer (Johan Kobborg); Ballet — Contemporary Dance/Best Actress (Sofia Matyushenskaya as Kitri); Ballet — Contemporary Dance/Best Actor (Tasman Davids as Gamache, Andrey Sorokin as Basilio); and Musical Theatre/Best Designer and Musical Theatre/Best Costume Designer (Jérôme Kaplan).

You can see this critically acclaimed show at the Mariinsky Theatre on December 3.

And in the spring of 2019, we will be taking Don Quixote to Moscow.

The winners of the Golden Mask National Theatre Award will be announced on April 16, 2019.
