The Nutcracker show, with music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky (libretto by Marius Petipa, based on a story by Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann, edited by Vasili Vainonen), which will be held on March 25 and 26, will feature three débuts of young dancers from the Saint-Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre.
Marseille Kazykhanov and Nuriya Kartamysova will make their first appearance in one of the public's most beloved dance sequences, the third act Pas de Trois, with Tasman Davids joining them as Drosselmeyer — another first. The recent alumni of the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy, Marseille and Nuriya have shown a lot of creative progress during their time with our theatre and are already beginning to master solo roles in our other ballets, step by step. We wish these two future ballet stars the best of luck in their débuts, and new successes on stage!
The show will take place at the Lensoviet Palace of Culture and will be accompanied by Saint-Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra (conducted by Vladimir Artemyev).
