From January 11 to February 16, the St. Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will be travelling across France.
This tour will be part of the Russian Seasons 2020 cultural project. The Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will start its traditional winter tour on January 11, in the city of Fréjus. The guests from St. Petersburg will perform The Nutcracker, a world-famous Christmas phantasmagoria set to music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, at a prestigious local venue, Théâtre le Forum. In all, our troupe, which the French public is already fairly familiar with, will visit 9 cities across the birth country of the Russian Frenchman Marius Petipa, giving a total of 22 shows. Theatre-goers from Fréjus, Lyons, Reims, Montaigu, and Aix-en-Provence will experience the magic of the fabled Nutcracker, while the best stages of Soissons, Thionville, Mérignac, and Les Herbiers will host the Tchaikovsky Ballet Recital, which will include scenes from the Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Nutcracker ballets. Finally, on January 24 and 25, the Yacobson troupe will perform The Nutcracker twice in the German city of Ludwigsburg. The tour will culminate on February 16, with The Nutracker show at the Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence.
