From May 17 to May 20, Banja Luka, the capital of Republika Srpska, will host the Days of St. Petersburg, a special project operated by the NevaArt company. The highlight of the event's diverse programme will, without a doubt, be the grand gala of opera and ballet stars, which will take place on May 17. It is a great joy and honour for the Leonid Yacobson Company, headed by Andrian Fadeev, Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation, to present St. Petersburg's ballet to the Serbian public.
The concert will begin with Pas-de-deux from the Sleeping Beauty ballet, with music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa and Jean-Guillaume Bart, which will be performed by two Yacobson Ballet soloists: Alla Bocharova, holder of the Saint-Petersburg City Council Youth Award, and Andrey Sorokin, winner of multiple international contests.
Another ballet number, Pas de quatre with music by Vincenzo Bellini and choreography by Leonid Yacobson, will feature such soloists as Svetlana Filatova, Nana Kurauchi, Elena Chernova, and Anna Skvortsova.
In turn, Elena Chernova and Stepan Dyomin, holder of an International Diploma, will perform Viennese Waltz, with music by Johann Strauss and choreography by Leonid Yacobson.
And to round things up, our soloist Svetlana Filatova and international contest winner Andrey Sorokin will culminate the all-stars gala with Pas-de-deux from the Swan Lake ballet, with music by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.
We hope that our dancers will earn St. Petersburg's ballet an outstanding reputation in Republika Srpska!
