The Leonid Yakobson Ballet Theatre will present, in a single evening, the one-act choreographic composition Mischievous Chastushki by Vyacheslav Samodurov, which was awarded the Golden Sofit as the best ballet performance of the past season, and Leonid Yakobson's cycle of choreographic miniatures Rodin, considered one of the most refined and original choreographic works of the 20th century.
Vyacheslav Samodurov is a recognized leader among contemporary choreographers.
Mischievous Chastushki set to the music of Rodion Shchedrin, in Samodurov's interpretation, has transformed into a playful, humor-filled, and dynamic dance polyphony, where the dancers compete in virtuosity.
One of the central themes of Vyacheslav Samodurov's new ballet — the human body — clearly resonates with the meaning of Leonid Yakobson's Rodin cycle. On the premiere night, all seven restored miniatures of the famous cycle will be performed, exactly as envisioned by the choreographer.
