A well-deserved accolade!

We are excited to announce that Artyom Pykhachov, our danseur and tutor, has received the highly prestigious title of Honoured Culture Worker of St. Petersburg.

The list of people that had been granted distinguished titles by the city government was revealed by Governor Alexander Beglov at his Smolny residence just before Theatre Day. Artyom Pykhachov was among them.

Having graduated from the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy, Artyom Pykhachov began his soloist career at the Mikhailovsky Theatre in 1998, and eventually joined the Leonid Yacobson troupe in 2012. Over his many years on-stage, he has performed leading roles in every iconic production from the classical repertoire, including Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty, the Nutcracker Prince in The Nutcracker, and the key protagonists in La Bayadère, Le Corsaire, Don Quixote, and La Sylphide. In addition, he was often involved in projects by modern choreographers and toured extensively around the world. In 2020, he was appointed dance tutor at the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre — a position that he also holds at the Boris Eifman Dance Academy. His wealth of ballet experience and natural affinity for teaching make him perfect for nurturing and supporting the new generation of performers as they strive towards exceptional professionalism in their craft.
