Gold Collection to culminate in a series of Swan Lake showings
The Gold Collection festival is drawing to a close. As the finishing touch for the event and the entire season, our troupe will perform the ballet classic, Swan Lake, at the Alexandrinsky Theatre on 13, 14, and 15 August.
The festival has been quite eventful, with the public discovering new stars, and with young dancers making an important step towards professional maturity. This applies to the closing performances as well.
For instance, the part of Odette and Odile on 13 August will be played by Irina Chadova, who just recently made her stage début, joined by Honoured Artist Andrey Sorokin as Siegfried. Our principal will reprise his role as the romantic prince on 15 August, during the festival’s very last show, in a duo with Elena Chernova. And on 14 August, the ballet’s protagonists will be played by Valerie Gomez de Cadiz and Vyacheslav Spilchevsky.
For Leonid Yacobson Ballet performers, classical choreography is the foundation for building up an understanding of all other diverse dance styles. And for audiences, classical choreography lies at the core of their perception of St. Petersburg ballet as a brand.
