SOLD OUT: Moscow tour brings down the full house
04.08.2025

As the curtain closed on our current season, the Leonid Yacobson troupe presented an exciting range of shows at the legendary Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. The programme included a whopping nine performances, each drawing immense interest from the public and fully selling out. The refined St. Petersburg style was quite to the exacting taste of the capital’s ballet critics, who praised the polished techniques in Swan Lake and the choreographic nuances of Johan Kobborg’s Don Quixote and Jean-Guillaume Bart’s Sleeping Beauty: two unique readings of the ballet classics performed exclusively by our troupe. Our consistent efforts to carefully preserve and restore the choreographic heritage of Leonid Yacobson Ballet’s founder and namesake were likewise a shining highlight. In fact, the tour opened with two evenings fully dedicated to Yacobson’s choreographic miniatures, forming a single collection known as The Brilliant Divertissement. “This unforgettable evening at the Bolshoi flew by as a single show, despite consisting of 15 mini-ballets,” says a detailed review of the production in the Kultura (Culture) periodical. “A truly outstanding production, full of a poignant nostalgia for times gone by. The spirit of Leonid Yacobson, the clear insight into his singular psyche, the consistency of his choreographic expression: all of this glues The Brilliant Divertissement together, keeping it from falling apart into random ballet bits and bobs”. We at the Leonid Yacobson Theatre are sincerely grateful to the Moscow public and the broader community of culture lovers for this heartfelt expression of interest, warm reception, and outpouring of reviews in the press and on social media.
