The Brilliant Divertissement comes to Moscow

The Brilliant Divertissement show by the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will take place at the Moskva Concert Hall in Moscow on 7 November. This versatile art venue is a recent addition to the Russian capital’s landmarks, and has not quite cemented itself as a place where you can appreciate the art of choreography. Perhaps the daring creative spirit exuded by Leonid Yacobson’s creations will transform it into a proper destination for ballet lovers.

The ballets and miniatures selected for the Moscow tour will reaffirm to the local public that the great choreographer’s genius is, as ever, unconquered by time. The show’s namesake is a one-act ballet with a charming aesthetic calling back to the reign of Louis XIV. The grandiose ball envisioned by Yacobson will allow our dancers to truly shine, showcasing both their courtly manners and their flawless technique. The next segment, Classicism–Romanticism, also captures the spirit of eras gone by. Some of its elegant dance miniatures paint ephemeral, elusive dreamscapes; others are filled with genuine zest and passion, which sizzles through the traditional classical form. These emotions reach their peak in the Rodin choreographic cycle, where dance numbers are seemingly carved from stone: the legendary sculptor’s creations come alive, unfolding into a powerful display of love, desperation, and ecstasy in all their countless facets.
