Vladivostok tour
14.02.2025

From 18 to 28 February, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will embark on a grand tour to the Mariinsky Theatre’s Primorsky venue in Vladivostok, arranged by the ROSCONCERT federal touring and concert centre in line with the nationwide theatre tour plan proposed by the Russian Ministry of Culture.

The two cities have always enjoyed lasting creative ties. Our ballet performers are delighted to make their annual contribution to making these ties even stronger. Despite being located on the opposite sides of the country, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok are joined together through theatre.

During the several days of the tour, theatre-goers from the Primorye Region, which Vladivostok is the capital of, will be welcomed to a diverse range of shows.   The playbill promises, first and foremost, the gold collection of Leonid Yacobson’s own timeless creations, which the public wouldn’t have been able to watch anywhere else. Then follows the ballet interpretation of The Queen of Spades, steeped in St. Petersburg’s spirit all the way, starting from the backdrops, which look like postcards with Neva vistas. This production was staged by Iñaki Urlezaga, a guest choreographer from Argentina, specially for our Theatre.  And finally, we are hoping that the audience will appreciate the latest additions to our repertoire, which premièred over the past few seasons: the Golden Soffit-nominated ballets Cheeky Chastushki and 598 Beats by contemporary choreographer Vyacheslav Samodurov.

Each of the shows will doubtlessly become a memorable highlight on Vladivostok’s cultural landscape.
