On 12 May, during the Golden Mask Festival, our troupe performed three one-act ballets at the Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre in Moscow: 598 Beats, Cheeky Chastushki, and Brilliant Divertissement. For reference: The 598 Beats production has been nominated for Best Ballet, while Vyacheslav Samodurov has been nominated for Best Ballet Master/Choreographer.

We are excited to announce that Artyom Pykhachov, our danseur and tutor, has received the highly prestigious title of Honoured Culture Worker of St. Petersburg.

The list of people that had been granted distinguished titles by the city government was revealed by Governor Alexander Beglov at his Smolny residence just before Theatre Day. Artyom Pykhachov was among them.

From 18 to 28 February, the Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre will embark on a grand tour to the Mariinsky Theatre’s Primorsky venue in Vladivostok, arranged by the ROSCONCERT federal touring and concert centre in line with the nationwide theatre tour plan proposed by the Russian Ministry of Culture.

The theatre community was following the Russian Theatre Workers’ Union Secretariat January 22 meeting with baited breath. The Secretariat was reviewing the long list of the Golden Mask National Award nominees for the 2023/24 theatre season. The nominee recommendations, submitted by the Award’s Expert Council, have now been officially approved.
