Choreographer Igor Bulytsyn chose music by Max Bruch, an outstanding German romantic composer, for his choreographic composition.

Act I

PREMIERE
Bruch. Suite

Music: Max Bruch
Choreography: Igor Bulytsyn
Set design: Alyona Pikalova
Lighting design: Evgeny Ganzburg, Honoured Cultural Worker of Russia

As the score for his choreographic creation, ballet master Igor Bulytsyn chose two pieces by the remarkable German Romantic composer Max Bruch, specifically an excerpt from Suite on Russian Folk Melodies (op. 79B) and Swedish Dances (op. 63). This Classical Revival production features seven soloists, each of whom gets a unique opportunity to showcase both their technical mastery and character development skills.

 Act II

598 Beats

Vyacheslav Samodurov is a renowned ballet master, winner of the Golden Mask 2025 National Award in the Best Choreographer nomination.

The show itself received the Golden Soffit 2024 Award in the Best Ballet nomination: the highest honour on the St. Petersburg ballet scene

Music: Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach
Set design: Elena Trubetskova
Lighting design: Sergey Vasiliev

The 598 Beats one-act ballet is Vyacheslav Samodurov’s second collaboration with the Leonid Yacobson Theatre, recognised by the Golden Soffit Award as the best production of 2024 and earning its creator the Golden Mask Award. The piece’s name alludes to the number of music beats in its score. Lacking a clearly defined plot, the ballet instead raises questions about the physical and spiritual aspects of human existence.

Act III

Rodin

Miniatures from the Rodin cycle
Choreography: Leonid Yacobson, Honoured Artist of the RSFSR
Costume design: Vyacheslav Okunev, People's Artist of Russia
Lighting design: Evgeny Ganzburg, Honoured Cultural Worker of Russia

Rodin is a series of choreographic miniatures that has been inspired by Auguste Rodin's art and has literally become the Yacobson Theatre's signature performance. Over the course of many years, Leonid Yacobson created a motley collection of dances, which were later joined together in a single ballet, Rodin. These miniatures make the great French impressionist's sculptures come to life, exalting true love in a poignant, free-spirited, ardently poetic hymn that speaks of the feeling's every facet, from the very first, tentative inkling of affection to the summer's noon heat of passionate caresses and the scorching touch of ferocious desire.
