In the Golden Soffit’s Light
The very first Golden Soffit award ceremony celebrated the most significant achievements in the art of theatre all the way back in the 90s. And ever since then, the distinguished judges have been selecting new nominees every year. Yesterday’s ceremony was the 30th, making the much sought-after Golden Soffit statuette all the more prestigious. And it went to our theatre! This was the second time a collaboration between Vyacheslav Samodurov and the Yacobson troupe won in the Best Ballet Production nomination. Last year, the prestigious St. Petersburg trophy was bestowed upon Cheeky Chastushki; and this year, upon 598 Beats. Set against a Classicist backdrop and inspired by the music of Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, the show offers a modern interpretation of classical themes and motifs, harmoniously blending the corporeal and the spiritual.
We are very thankful to the choreographer for creating this production, as well as to all our performers for embracing all its nuances and making the artist’s intent a reality!
