A Bit of Sunshine on a Cold Day
Leonid Yacobson Academic Ballet Theatre is delighted to invite its guests to a vibrant, life-affirming weekend with Don Quixote, a production by Johan Kobborg. On 24 September, the charming and carefree characters from Cervantes’ famous novel will greet the St. Petersburg audience on the legendary Mariinsky stage. The show will star the troupe’s best talents: the charismatic Vyacheslav Spilchevsky, known for his flawless technique, will play the role of Basilio, while the refined and enticing Elena Chernova will appear as Kitri; Leonid Khrapunsky, who astonishes audiences with his acting skills, will shine as Sancho Panza; and the temperamental Denis Klimuk will dance Espada’s part, with the fiery Svetlana Svinko beside him as Mercedes. Jérôme Kaplan’s colourful set design, as well as music by Ludwig Minkus, which seems to radiate Spanish sunlight, will add a splash of summer warmth.
