Three Golden Soffit Nominations

    The nominees for Golden Soffit, St. Petersburg’s most prestigious theatre award, have been revealed today. Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre is present in as many as three categories.
    Vyacheslav Samodurov’s Cheeky Chastushki got nominated for Best Ballet. The show premièred at the historical venue of Mariinsky Theatre on 16 December, 2022, during the concert in honour of composer Rodion Shchedrin’s 90th birthday. Anastasia Nefyodova, who worked on the costumes and set for Cheeky Chastushki, also received the Best Artist in Music Theatre nomination.
    Finally, Leonid Yacobson Theatre’s principal Kirill Vychuzhanin was nominated for Best Male Role in a Ballet, in recognition of his performance as the Majordomo in a one-act ballet choreographed by Leonid Yacobson and set to Mikhail Glinka’s music. The revived version of this production was first shown at the Alexandrinsky Theatre on 24 April, 2023.
