Born in Izhevsk.

In 1992, graduated from the Vaganova Russian Ballet Academy, where he studied under V. K. Onoshko.

Principal dancer at the St-Petersburg Mussorgsky State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre from 1992 to 1994.

In 1994, became principal dancer at the Mariinsky Theatre.

Guest ballet master at the Mikhailovsky Theatre since 2010.

Has been working jointly as a ballet master at Mariinsky and the Danish Royal Ballet from 2000 onward.

Has headed the Andrey Batalov Classical Ballet Theatre in St. Petersburg since 2015.

Since 2022, has been tutoring at the St. Petersburg State Academic Leonid Yacobson Ballet Theatre.

 

Won 1st place at the International Ballet Artists’ Competition in Nagoya, Japan (1996).

Won 2nd place at the Rudolf Nureyev International Ballet Competition (RNIBC) in Budapest, Hungary (1996)

Won 1st place and the Mikhail Baryshnikov Award at the Arabesque 96 Russian Open Ballet Contest in Perm (1996)

Won 1st place at the International Ballet Artists’ Competition in Paris, France (1997)

Won the Grand Prix at the International Ballet Artists’ Competition in Moscow, Russia (1997)

 

Has appeared in:

 

La Sylphide, Giselle, Le Corsaire, La Bayadère, The Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote, Scheherazade, Le Spectre de la Rose, Petrouchka, The Prodigal Son, Romeo and Juliet, The Legend of Love, Études, Le Jeune Homme et la Mort, Manon, Undine, and other ballets.

Performed at the Gala in honour of Māris Liepa’s 70th birthday (Moscow, Kremlin Palace, 2006) and during the Malakhov and Friends event (Berlin, 2008). Continuously contributes to concerts organised by the Māris Liepa Foundation, as well as to shows and galas in Vilnius, Riga, Geneva, Beijing, Seoul, Greece and Croatia. Toured Europe, Asia and America as part of the Mariinsky Theatre troupe.

In September 2014, held public ballet classes at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Oversees dress rehearsals and ballet workshops during the Andrey Batalov Theatre tours.
